There’s nothing like getting into your car on a scalding hot day knowing you’ll soon have some ice cold air blowing in your face. There’s also nothing quite like being disappointed when that cold air comes out warm. Why does your AC blow warm air? There are a few reasons your AC blows warm or hot air instead of cold, refreshing air. Let’s take a closer look at what might be going on.
Three Reasons Your AC Is Blowing Hot Air
There are three main causes for an air conditioning system to blow hot air. One of them is very minor and easy to fix. The rest take more work. But no matter what the cause, we can get it repaired.
Your refrigerant is low – this is the easiest problem to address. You just need to buy a can of Freon with a fill valve and then follow the directions. If you don’t have any other issues, then this will take care of the problem.
You have a refrigerant leak – if you buy some Freon and refill your system, you should notice your cool air returning. However, if after a few days, you notice the warm air returning, that means you either have a refrigerant leak, or you have another problem. Fixing a leak can be simple, but finding refrigerant leaks is often tricky. So if you think you might have a refrigerant leak, then contact Hoesly Automotive to get it resolved.
Your compressor needs to be replaced – if you have a newer vehicle then most likely you won’t have an issue with your compressor, but it is possible. However, if you own an older vehicle, then it’s quite possible that your compressor is worn out. This is the most important part of your AC system, as it’s responsible for circulating the refrigerant throughout your system, including inside the vehicle. In other words, if it goes out, the cool air isn’t going to reach your cabin, and you’re vents will blow warm air. The good news, we can take care of this for you. Just bring in your vehicle and we can test it to see if it’s working.
Your electrical system has an issue – the other important aspect of your vehicle’s AC system is your electrical system. There are numerous fuses and wires that play a role in your AC system. Sometimes, it can take just one blown fuse, or one corroded wire to mess things up. The hard part is finding all the fuses and wires and pinpointing what’s gone wrong. The good news is, our ASE certified technicians know exactly how to do it. So no matter which one of these issues you might be facing, our team we’ll find it and fix it.
