Wow, it’s almost September. Where did summer go? The kids are already in school, and the summer road trip season is over. Soon we’ll be saying good-bye to sunny days and hello to fall and winter weather. That means it’s time to start thinking about car care again. You might have seen our spring and summer car care tips earlier this year. Now it’s time to talk about some end-of summer car care tips.
To Do List for Auto Maintenance
There are several things to keep in mind for your vehicle when summer winds down.
A Good Inspection – start by giving your vehicle a good inspection. The best way to do this is to take your car to a professional and trusted auto repair shop. A technician will check your fluids, your battery, hoses, wires, lights, engine, wiper blades and much more. If anything needs a little tune-up you can get it taken care of right away. If you do have any problems and you leave them unattended, they will likely get worse as the weather gets colder.
Keep an Eye on Your Tires – the end of summer is a good time to check your tires. Look for cracks or any uneven tread wear. Check the tread depth as well. If you’re like most people you’ve been driving a lot more the last few months so your tires have been getting more work. If you’re not sure what to look for bring your vehicle into Hoesly Automotive and we’ll inspect your tires for you. If you need new tires, now is the perfect time to get them; right before the inclement weather begins.
Check Your Blades – this is one of the easiest maintenance jobs there is. If your wiper blades are getting a little past their prime the end of summer is the right time to change them. The rain will be here soon so getting your new wiper blades installed before it hits is always a good idea. Changing your blades is fairly straightforward, but if you need help with this service, then it’s good to get it done when you have your vehicle inspected or bring it in for a tune-up.
Clean Your Vehicle – this is a good time to give your vehicle a good cleaning, both inside and out. Wash it thoroughly and clean the car mats. Vacuum it out and add an air freshener. It’s also a good idea to remove any extra clutter you don’t need in your vehicle. This might seem like a simple thing, but when you keep your car clean you tend to take better care of it in other ways, as well. The better you take care of it, the better your car will take care of you.
