Is Your Car Ready for Summer Driving This Year?

It’s almost that time of year again. Summer! The sun is out, the BBQ grill is fired up, and the smell of fresh cut grass is in the air. And of course, you’re getting ready for some fun summer activities. Most of the time that means you’ll need your car to get you where you’re going. If your summer season includes any road trips or big driving plans, then now is the time to get your vehicle ready.

The last thing you want to worry about is your vehicle ruing your big plans. And of course, you want to be safe out on the busy roadways as you set out to explore new adventures. So if you car, truck, crossover, or SUV needs any summer prep, now is the perfect time to take care of it.

Inspection Checklist

There’s a lot that could go wrong so give your vehicle a complete checkup to be sure everything is in good working order. Here are some important things to focus on right now.

Check the Tires – summer driving conditions means hot roads. That means your tires need to be in excellent condition. Look for uneven wear, low tread, low pressure, and any signs of tearing. If your tires aren’t safe, you won’t be safe either. So make sure you get them checked out. And if it’s time for some new ones, then come see us at Hoesly Eco Automotive.

Inspect the Brakes – next up is your brakes. Obviously your brakes need to be in a good shape for the upcoming summer driving season. So now is a good time to check all your brake components, including pads, rotors, and drums. If you can’t inspect your brakes on your own, then bring your vehicle into our shop and we’ll do it for you.

How’s the Oil – hopefully you get your oil changed regularly, but if it’s been a while then you should at least get it checked. Even if you don’t need to change it yet, you can inspect it for any signs of trouble, including discoloring or low levels.

Other Fluids – after the oil, come all the other fluids, including coolant, which is vital if you want to keep your engine from overheating during these hot months. Transmission fluid, brake fluid, and power steering fluid are also important so be sure you have enough and that these fluids are still in good condition.

Battery and Wipers – last but not least are your battery and wipers. The cold temperatures can run your battery down during the winter, so make sure it still has a full charge. Likewise, your wipers have been doing a lot of work for the last few months so be sure they’re till in good condition, as well. If they need to be replaced, go ahead and change your wipers. You don’t want to get caught in a surprise summer storm with bad wipers.
